A late-night collision between a motorcyclist and a Mesa Public Schools service truck turned fatal Wednesday near Southern Avenue and Greenfield Road, according to Mesa police. The rider was taken to a hospital with serious injuries and later died, authorities said. Officials had not released the rider’s name as of Thursday morning.
The crash happened at about 11:30 p.m. near the intersection and involved a district service truck, 12News reported. Police said investigators were working the scene and had not released additional details.
Nearby crash history
This stretch of Southern and Greenfield has seen other serious incidents in recent months. In January, a fatal golf-cart crash near the same intersection left one person dead and another injured.
Investigation ongoing
Mesa police told 12News that they had no further information available and would release updates when they can. As part of the routine investigation into a traffic fatality, officials will review the scene, collect witness statements and examine any available video.
