Eight years after a northwest-side ambush took his life, the family of Christopher Polk is still waiting for answers. Polk, known onstage as Chris P, was gunned down on Loop 410 after leaving a nightclub on Feb. 24, 2018, and died at the scene. Loved ones have kept his APE Life brand and memory alive, but say the lack of arrests has turned grief into a long, grinding search for justice.
SAPD Re-releases Surveillance Footage
According to the San Antonio Police Department, homicide investigators recently re-released surveillance video that appears to show a silver SUV and a black sedan trailing Polk's vehicle on the Loop 410 access road. Detectives are urging anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers and reference case number SAPD18038826. The renewed push, and the family's latest plea for help, were highlighted this week by KENS5. Investigators say the footage could be key to identifying the people in those suspect vehicles.
What Investigators Say
Surveillance shared by detectives shows the SUV and sedan following Polk’s car near Bandera Road on the access road. Investigators say one vehicle pulled in front of Polk while the other came up alongside him. Multiple rounds were fired. Polk was hit and pronounced dead at the scene, while a passenger was wounded and taken to the hospital, according to KSAT. No arrests have been made, and detectives acknowledge that leads remain limited.
Family Keeps Pressure on Authorities
Polk’s family has spent years organizing memorials and community events while publicly pressing for answers. His mother, Elizabeth Polk, told KENS5 they still view the case as an unsolved murder and want both police and the public to step up with information. Polk’s daughter, Kaydence, was just 2 when her father was killed, and relatives say the long wait for accountability has only made the loss harder to carry.
A Life And A Local Scene
Polk performed in San Antonio as Chris P and was working on the APE Life apparel brand. Friends and fans have kept his name alive through tributes and benefit events, as reported by MySA. His killing in 2018 shook the city’s hip-hop community and sparked worries about targeted violence along busy highways and near nightlife spots.
How To Help The Investigation
Crime Stoppers is offering up to a 5,000 dollar reward for information that leads to an arrest in Polk’s killing. Anyone with tips can call Crime Stoppers at 210-224-7867 (210-224-STOP) or contact the SAPD Homicide Unit at 210-207-7635, according to the San Antonio Police Department. Tips can be left anonymously, and investigators stress that even small details could help finally move the case forward.
