The pre-dawn calm in Chicago’s South Shore neighborhood turned violent Tuesday when an 18-year-old was shot and left in serious condition, according to police. Officers were called just before 1:20 a.m. to the 7800 block of South Cornell Avenue, where they found the victim with a gunshot wound to the groin. The teen was taken to the University of Chicago Hospital and listed in serious condition.
Police say
Chicago police say the victim was uncooperative with officers, and Area Two detectives have opened an investigation. Video from the scene showed shattered glass at the entrance to an apartment building, according to a report from the scene.
