“We’re usually part of an evening out, so we love districts like RiNo,” Daniel Daher, director of marketing for The Escape Game, told BusinessDen, which first reported the lease and the layout. That reporting details a 12,300-square-foot buildout that will include six escape-game rooms and three live-hosted game-show rooms, along with a large central lounge. Construction is pegged at about $1 million, and the operator has been clear that the experience is meant to revolve around play, not pours, with no alcohol service on-site.

A bigger push in Colorado

The RiNo location will be The Escape Game’s second Colorado outpost, joining its Park Meadows/Lone Tree venue that opened in 2024. The company’s locations page lists more than 50 sites nationwide and highlights a growing regional footprint that now includes Colorado. The Escape Game and The Escape Game Lone Tree provide the Colorado addresses along with booking details for players looking to reserve a room.

Edens doubles down on RiNo

The building’s landlord, Edens, has been a major player on the Walnut and Larimer blocks, and its ownership helped make the lease pencil out. The Washington, D.C.-based firm has spent tens of millions of dollars acquiring RiNo properties and has floated plans for a larger mixed-use redevelopment that could include neighborhood retail and a small grocery, according to reporting by Westword. Across the neighborhood, landlords have been repurposing big taprooms and brewery spaces as amenity-style tenants move in and on-site production plays a smaller role.

From beer to games

The Escape Game’s arrival extends a broader RiNo trend in which breweries exit large, high-visibility spaces and property owners hunt for new foot-traffic magnets. 10 Barrel Brewing closed its 2620 Walnut brewpub in late 2022, leaving the building vacant until this lease, as BusinessDen reported. For residents and visitors, the deal is another sign that RiNo’s familiar mix of art, beer and small retail is tilting toward curated retail and full-blown experiential entertainment.
