A 51-year-old Rohnert Park man is locked up without bail after detectives say he sexually assaulted a child under 14 years old, then admitted to details that matched the accusations.
Courtland "Corey" William Foster was taken into custody on Sunday and booked into the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility. He is being held without bail on multiple counts while detectives continue to investigate the case.
The Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety said in a Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety statement that detectives arrested Foster after an investigation in which officers identified information they believe backs up the victim’s account. According to the department, statements obtained from Foster were consistent with the allegations, and detectives are actively looking into whether there are any related incidents.
Foster was booked on charges that include lewd and lascivious acts upon a child under 14, lewd and lascivious acts by use of force, and possession, production and distribution of child sexual abuse material, according to CBS San Francisco. The outlet also reports he was being held without bail at the Sonoma County facility while investigators gather additional evidence.
Officials seek tips and possible additional victims
Detectives say they are working to determine whether there may be additional victims or related incidents and are asking the public for help. Anyone who may have had contact with Foster or has information relevant to the case is encouraged to contact Sergeant Quinn at (707) 584-2612, according to the department.
How this fits in the North Bay
Local coverage notes that the alleged conduct in the Foster case may stretch back years, and the arrest comes amid a series of child-exploitation investigations in the North Bay. SFGATE detailed the arrest and timeline, while a separate Rohnert Park CSAM arrest in January reported by Hoodline began with a CyberTip investigation.
Legal note
The statutes cited by the department line up with state laws such as California Penal Code §288 on lewd acts with a child and provisions addressing child sexual-abuse material like §311.11. Both carry felony penalties and other serious consequences. Prosecutors in Sonoma County will determine the exact charges as the investigation moves forward.
