Con Azucar Café, the California-based coffee shop known for oversized conchas and candy-inspired lattes, is gearing up for its first Chicago outpost in the South Loop. Franchisees are eyeing a spring opening at 801 S Financial Place in Printer’s Row, with a tentative target around Cinco de Mayo.
According to What Now Chicago, franchisees Andrew DeBrie and Gerardo Ortiz have been working on the Printer’s Row project since they signed the lease in July 2025. They told the outlet the Chicago café will keep Con Azucar’s California vibe while leaning into a sleeker look and a menu tweaked specifically for local tastes.
What To Expect Inside
Fans can expect the brand’s signature sweets and eye-catching pastries alongside the usual coffeehouse staples. Per Con Azucar Cafe’s menu, locations typically pour Americanos, cappuccinos, and iced lattes, and serve pan dulce, plus savory options like avocado toast and classic sandwiches.
Where It Will Sit
According to an ATProperties listing, 801 S Financial Place is a short walk from the Roosevelt Collection Shops and is surrounded by a heavy concentration of apartments. That steady residential base, combined with nearby office and retail traffic, helped convince the franchise partners that Printer’s Row was the right opening move for Con Azucar in Chicago.
Expansion Plans
Per Con Azucar Cafe's locations page, the brand already lists multiple sites across California along with out-of-state locations, and flags Chicago as “coming soon.” What Now Chicago reports the local franchise team is not stopping at one shop; they are aiming to open four additional locations in the area over the next 18 months, including a planned spot in Park Ridge.
Exact opening dates, hours, and a formal announcement will land closer to the end of construction. For now, the company is keeping fans posted on social media. Follow Con Azucar on Instagram at @conazucarcafe for updates on the Printer’s Row debut.
