San Jose woke up clear and mild today, with the airport clocking in at about 61°F early this morning. It is shaping up to be a warm, dry day, with afternoon highs near 81°F and a fresh west-northwest breeze sliding in by midday.
Afternoon Winds Pick Up
Temperatures will climb into the low 80s this afternoon, topping out around 80 to 81°F by mid-afternoon before easing back into the upper 70s later in the evening. West-northwest winds will spread across the valley, generally 1 to 10 mph with gusts in the upper single digits to around 10 mph. According to the National Weather Service, mostly sunny skies and highs near 81°F are on tap across the South Bay on Saturday.
Coast And Fog
The marine layer is redeveloping this morning, so expect pockets of fog and low clouds at the immediate coast, especially around Half Moon Bay and parts of Monterey County, where readings will be noticeably cooler than inland. These coastal clouds should thin and lift through the late morning, giving way to sunshine on most beaches by midday.
Boaters And The Bay
Mariners should take note: small craft advisories and gale warnings are in effect for portions of the outer waters and the Point Reyes coastal jet, with hazardous seas possible into the weekend. The NWS Bay Area office recommends checking local marine forecasts before heading out and securing loose gear on small boats. On land, the forecast stays dry through the rest of the month, so outdoor events and weekend plans should be largely unaffected.
