A home surveillance camera turned into a key witness for San Rafael police yesterday, helping officers nab two men suspected of breaking into an unoccupied house in Terra Linda just before dawn. Police swarmed the neighborhood after a caller reported seeing someone inside the home shortly before 5 a.m.
Camera Tip Led Officers to the Home
According to SFGATE, which carried a Bay City News Service dispatch, officers responded to a burglary-in-progress report in the area of Diego and Duran drives and found a suspect still inside the vacant house. Police said the man ignored orders to surrender and tried to bolt, but officers were able to take him into custody and reportedly recovered stolen property from his backpack and pockets. A nearby driver suspected of serving as a lookout or getaway driver was also detained. Both men, ages 22 and 29, from Richmond, were booked into Marin County Jail.
