New Orleans police say a quiet night on the 3800 block of Texas Drive turned violent when a man forced his way into a home, attacked a woman as she slept and stole property before taking off. Detectives have now released the suspect’s name and description and are asking anyone who knows something to step up.
According to a New Orleans Police Department post, the incident happened on Feb. 28 and the suspect has been identified as Leroy Jenkins III, born Dec. 19, 1986. The department is asking anyone with information to contact Fourth District detectives at 504-658-6040 or email [email protected], and it directs people who want to remain anonymous to Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans.

The department identified the suspect as Leroy Jenkins III, described as a Black male. Investigators say Jenkins entered the home on Texas Drive, attacked the occupant while she slept, then took property and ran. The notice from police also states that “all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty,” and lists Jenkins’ date of birth as Dec. 19, 1986.
