Traffic on West End Avenue turned violent Thursday night when gunfire from a white sedan ripped into another vehicle, wounding its driver and sending him to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Witnesses told police the car made a U-turn before heading inbound on West End and disappearing without stopping.
Officials describe the vehicle and timeline
According to a Metro Nashville Police Department media release, a 34-year-old man said he turned onto West End from 23rd Avenue in front of a white Kia and then pulled into the parking lot at 2312 West End when the car followed him. A rear-seat passenger in the white vehicle reportedly yelled and then opened fire into the victim's car, hitting him in the back, the release states. The injured driver then rear-ended a parked vehicle and was taken to Vanderbilt for treatment. Investigators added that no private license-plate-reader technology was located in the area to help with the investigation, according to the release - Metro Nashville Police Department.
