Firebirds Wood Fired Grill is firing up plans for a new location in downtown Goodyear's GSQ, adding another national player to the city's fast-evolving core. The single-story restaurant is slated to pack in about 5,658 square feet of indoor dining plus roughly 700 square feet of patio space, giving the area another sit-down option near the busy Trader Joe's corner at McDowell Road and Bullard Avenue.
Developers confirmed the deal in a RED Development announcement posted on the City of Goodyear website, which notes that Firebirds will occupy a 5,658-square-foot standalone building with a 700-square-foot patio next to Trader Joe's on McDowell Road. The release also lists Black Rock Coffee Bar as a neighbor and pegs the newest storefronts for a 2026 debut, according to the City of Goodyear. The GSQ project is framed as a walkable, mixed-use downtown centered on the city's Civic Square.
What Firebirds Will Serve
Firebirds bills itself as an upscale-casual, wood-fired concept built around hand-cut steaks, fresh seafood and specialty cocktails. Locations typically feature a bar-forward "FIREBAR" and lodge-style interiors. The chain already operates several Valley outposts, and its menu and patio-friendly setup for the Goodyear location are outlined on the Firebirds Wood Fired Grill website.
GSQ Keeps Filling In
GSQ, a 150-plus-acre project from Globe Corp. and RED Development, has been steadily signing national and regional names around City Hall, the library and a new park. Local reporting and industry outlets list tenants including Trader Joe's, Black Rock Coffee Bar and Fogo de Chão among those headed to the square, as noted by Phoenix New Times and Shopping Center Business. GSQ's rapid buildout has previously been chronicled alongside the developer's pitch for a truly walkable downtown in Goodyear.
When To Expect It
Developers have generally targeted 2026 for the latest round of GSQ tenants and have not released a firm public opening date for the Firebirds location, according to REBusinessOnline. The Trader Joe's anchoring the block opened in late 2025 at 14770 W. McDowell Road, per city council documents, giving the stretch immediate foot traffic that developers hope will support sit-down destinations like Firebirds.
