
A woman was rushed to the hospital in critical condition Tuesday afternoon after deputies found her with a gunshot wound to the chest in Miami-Dade County's West Little River neighborhood. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue took her to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, and deputies detained a man and a woman at the scene while detectives began their investigation.
Scene and response
The victim was discovered bleeding shortly after 1:35 p.m. near Northwest 22 Avenue and 90th Street, according to WPLG Local 10. Deputies shut down a stretch of NW 90th Street between NW 22nd and NW 21st avenues while they processed the scene and held the two detained individuals. Officials did not immediately release any names or potential charges as the case remained an active investigation.
Hospital and condition
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue transported the woman to Jackson Memorial's Ryder Trauma Center, a Level I trauma facility equipped for the most severe injuries, per Ryder Trauma Center. The center reports that it treats thousands of trauma cases each year and serves as a regional referral hospital for major injuries. Hospital officials have not released further details about the patient's identity or prognosis.
