Antioch residents along Catanzaro Way were told to hunker down yesterday as police worked what they called an active incident in the neighborhood. Officers asked people living on Timberbrook Way, Catanzaro Way and Vista Grande Way to shelter in place while they secured the area, and urged everyone else to steer clear until the situation is resolved.
In a brief alert on its Facebook post, the Antioch Police Department said officers were "currently working an active police incident" in the area and asked the public to avoid Catanzaro Way. The post urged residents to remain sheltered in place and said officials would share more information when they are able.
Police Action and Shelter in Place
Shelter-in-place orders are a standard precaution officers use when they lock down a scene or search for suspects, and Antioch has used the tactic during past searches and manhunts. ABC7 reported a similar advisory in Antioch in May 2024 that was lifted once the search ended.
How Residents Can Stay Safe
If you are in immediate danger, call 911. Otherwise, stay indoors, lock your doors and windows, and avoid the affected streets until police say it is safe to leave. The Antioch Police Department website lists a non-emergency line at (925) 778-2441 and options for anonymous tips. You can also text the word ANTIOCH to 274637 (CRIMES) to submit an anonymous tip, and the department says it will post updates on its social channels as new information becomes available.
