Cincinnati police are searching for a gunman after a person with a gunshot wound showed up at a local hospital late Wednesday afternoon, saying they were shot along Reading Road in Avondale.
The victim told officers the shooting happened in the 3500 block of Reading Road. Their injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening, according to police, but the shooter took off in a dark-colored vehicle and has not been found.
Officers were called to the hospital at about 5:18 p.m. Wednesday for the injured victim, as first reported by WKRC Local 12. The station reports police were told the shooting happened on Reading Road and that the suspect is described as a thin male, about 5-foot-5, wearing all black clothing. Detectives have not announced any arrests as they continue to investigate.
A Familiar Stretch of Road
The section of Reading Road that cuts through Avondale has seen more than its share of flashing lights and crime tape in recent months. Coverage from WLWT has highlighted multiple shootings along the corridor, and a February case that briefly shut down the corridor was among the incidents that snarled traffic and spooked regular commuters.
That pattern has left neighbors and drivers wary of yet another police response on the same stretch of roadway.
Investigators Pressing for Answers
Police have not released the victim’s name or any further details about what led up to Wednesday’s shooting, and no arrests have been reported as of Wednesday night. In earlier Reading Road cases, local outlets such as WCPO have noted that detectives typically urge anyone with information to contact Cincinnati police, saying community tips can be key to moving investigations forward.
Detectives are still working the case and have not released additional details. This story will be updated as officials share more information.
