American Snuff Company is beefing up its workforce in Clarksville, Tenn., rolling out plans for more than 50 new manufacturing jobs at its production plant as part of an ongoing modernization push. The openings, which include machine operator and maintenance technician roles, are set to be posted and filled on a rolling basis throughout 2026.
The hiring wave was announced March 26 in a company press release. According to Reynolds American, the Clarksville facility is the company’s second-largest production site, and the new positions are aimed at shoring up manufacturing operations while supporting long-term growth. The company frames the additions as the latest step in a multiyear effort that began in 2024 to modernize its U.S. manufacturing footprint.
“For more than a century, American Snuff Company has grown alongside this community, evolving its operations while maintaining a strong local presence,” Adriano Rusak, vice president of manufacturing at American Snuff Company, said in the release. He added that the new jobs and training are intended to prepare both employees and the facility for future production needs.
New Roles And Training
The Business Journals reports that the listings will cover machine operator and maintenance technician positions, and that training will mix hands-on instruction with digital and simulation-based learning to build technical skills. Openings are expected to go up throughout the year, giving would-be hires several chances to step into production work rather than a single make-or-break application window.
Part Of A Bigger U.S. Manufacturing Bet
The Clarksville hires are tied to Reynolds American’s broader “Growing Tomorrow” initiative, a commitment to invest more than 3.2 billion dollars in U.S. operations by 2030 in order to modernize plants, scale up production and support jobs. The program kicked off in 2024 and is projected to support roughly 2,000 direct and indirect roles across the company’s U.S. footprint. Tobacco Reporter and other industry outlets have covered the campaign and its focus on smokeless products.
What It Means For Clarksville
Clarksville leaders and the Clarksville Area Chamber have long pitched manufacturing as central to local growth, and city economic development materials spotlight the industrial park as home to a wide array of producers. The company’s latest hiring and expansion plans line up with those materials and highlight American Snuff’s role in Montgomery County’s supply chain and agricultural ties, according to the City/County economic development office and the Clarksville Area Chamber.
American Snuff Company is the nation’s second-largest manufacturer of smokeless tobacco products and lists Grizzly and Kodiak among its flagship brands, according to the company’s site. Jobseekers are encouraged to keep an eye on the company’s careers page and local job boards as roles are added through 2026. The company’s About page and careers section carry the latest background and listings.
