A late-night drive on Dickerson Pike ended in tragedy early Sunday when a 17-year-old driving a Tesla Model 3 was killed in a single-vehicle rollover crash in north Nashville, authorities said.
The wreck happened around 12:30 a.m. in the 3800 block of Dickerson Pike. According to WSMV, citing Metro Nashville Police, the Tesla was heading south when the teen lost control, crossed multiple lanes of traffic, hit a concrete pole, and overturned. First responders rushed the driver to Skyline Medical Center, where the 17-year-old was later pronounced dead.
WSMV reports that police said the teen was wearing a seat belt and that officers did not observe signs of impairment at the scene.
Crash scene and hospital response
First responders found the Tesla on its roof in the roadway and secured the area while investigators documented the scene. The driver was transported to TriStar Skyline Medical Center, which lists its emergency department at 3441 Dickerson Pike.
Investigators remained on Dickerson Pike through the morning to collect evidence and work to determine what led up to the crash.
Teen drivers and crash risk
Motor vehicle crashes remain a leading cause of death for teenagers in the United States, and the CDC notes that teen drivers have fatal-crash rates per mile driven that are substantially higher than those of older drivers. Safety experts often cite inexperience, nighttime driving, and distractions as common factors in serious teen crashes.
Dickerson Pike has long been a trouble spot for traffic incidents in north Nashville. As Pedestrian Suffers Critical Injuries reported in October 2025, the corridor has seen serious collisions that have raised ongoing community concerns about safety along the busy stretch.
Metro Nashville police continue to investigate Sunday’s crash and have not released the driver’s name. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police, WSMV reported.
