A Friday night shooting in North City left a man dead on the 4100 block of West Florissant Avenue, triggering a homicide investigation and a heavy police presence that stretched into the evening, according to St. Louis police.
Officers were called to the scene around 7:45 p.m., where the victim was pronounced dead. Homicide detectives were summoned and remained on site as the investigation got underway.
According to First Alert 4, a BP gas station on West Florissant was wrapped in police tape as officers worked the surrounding blocks. Reporters on scene observed homicide detectives and crime-scene teams processing evidence. The station reported that a man had died in the shooting and that no additional details about the victim or any suspects were immediately available.
