A Monday evening outside Ridgecrest Apartments in Frayser turned violent when a man who stepped outside was shot and left with non-critical injuries, according to Memphis police. Officers responded to the complex along Shady Vista Drive around 6:15 p.m., and the victim told investigators he was hit shortly after walking out of his residence.

By Tuesday, detectives had pulled surveillance footage and released still images of two men they say are tied to the shooting. According to Action News 5, one suspect’s face is clearly visible on camera, while the other man is seen in a ski mask. Police said both were dressed in all-black clothing when last spotted.

"Anyone with information is encouraged to call CrimeStoppers at 901-528-CASH," Memphis police said, as quoted by Action News 5. Detectives are asking anyone who recognizes the men to contact CrimeStoppers or the department as they work to piece together what led up to the shooting.

Ridgecrest's Troubled Record

Ridgecrest Apartments has been a repeated hot spot for gunfire and heavy police response in recent years, fueling frustration among residents and catching the attention of city leaders. The complex was in the headlines last year after a child and an adult were wounded there, underscoring long-running safety worries in Frayser. The latest batch of surveillance images is the department's newest push to tap the public for help identifying suspects and closing yet another Ridgecrest case.
