Early Friday evening in Soulard turned deadly after gunfire near South 7th Street and Russell Boulevard left one man dead and another wounded, according to police. The shooting happened at about 6 p.m. in the historic neighborhood just south of downtown. Officers and emergency crews rushed in, and the injured person was taken to a hospital, where they were reported in stable condition.
First Alert 4 reports that one man was pronounced dead at the scene while another victim survived the attack. A First Alert 4 crew on site saw the parking lot of the Phillips 66 at South 7th and Russell roped off with crime-scene tape, as officers documented evidence from a car that appeared to have crashed about a block away.
Busy Corner Becomes Crime Scene
The shooting unfolded at or near the Phillips 66 station at South 7th and Russell, a busy corner that regularly sees commuters, residents, and late-night traffic. Commercial station directories list the address as Energy Express (Phillips 66) at 710 Russell Blvd, according to Waze.

Police had not immediately released any information about a suspect or motive in the case, First Alert 4 noted. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s April 1 homicide analysis indicates that Soulard had recorded one homicide so far this year before Friday’s killing.
