According to WTHR, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers located one victim with gunshot injuries and opened an active investigation. Where it happened
The 900 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street sits just north of the core downtown corridor, close to campus and medical-area crossings around 10th Street. That wider area has seen periodic police alerts and robbery reports in recent years, including campus-area incidents noted by local outlets, per WRTV. Downtown leaders have also pushed expanded camera access for investigators through the b-link program, which provides IMPD live access to privately owned business camera feeds, per Downtown Indy.
What officials are asking
IMPD has not announced any arrests or released suspect information, according to WTHR. Investigators are asking anyone who saw what happened, or who captured cellphone or security video, to contact Crime Stoppers or the department's tip lines as detectives follow up on leads.
IMPD says additional details will be released as the investigation moves forward. We will update this story when officials provide more information.
