Storm Chances Rise Saturday Afternoon
Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible through the day, with the best chances arriving from the afternoon into early evening. West winds will stay relatively light at 2 to 8 mph, but any storm could bring a brief downpour or gusty wind.
According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, the incoming front should finally push through late Saturday. That is a meaningful shift from Friday's forecast update, with cooler air arriving in time for the rest of the holiday weekend.
Sunny Sunday Offers A Break From The Heat
Sunday looks sunny and noticeably cooler, with a high near 82 and an overnight low around 62. Labor Day should remain sunny as well, reaching about 84 degrees with no rain expected.
Another Warmup Arrives Next Week
The cooler stretch will be brief. Tuesday is expected to reach 90 degrees, followed by a mostly sunny Wednesday near 94 with southwest gusts as high as 25 mph; shower and thunderstorm chances increase Wednesday night and Thursday.
For Saturday, residents should drink plenty of fluids, limit prolonged time outdoors and check on older neighbors, young children and anyone without reliable cooling. Heat illness can develop quickly in the afternoon, even when skies are partly sunny.
