KB Home, the decades-old homebuilder long based in Westwood, is packing up its corporate headquarters and heading for the desert. The company said Wednesday it will relocate its corporate headquarters to Tempe, Arizona beginning in spring 2027, centralizing executive and key corporate functions outside Los Angeles to cut operating costs and boost internal collaboration.
In a company statement, "Beginning in spring 2027, KB Home will establish its new headquarters in Tempe, Arizona, bringing executive leadership and key corporate functions together in a more central location that will lower the company’s cost structure over time," according to MyNewsLA. KB Home President and CEO Robert McGibney said the move "brings our teams together in a more collaborative environment," and the company said it positions KB Home for the next phase of growth.
Roots in Los Angeles
KB Home traces its origins to the 1950s and has been a prominent Los Angeles-based builder for decades. The company’s most recent filings list its principal executive offices at 10990 Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles, per KB Home’s Form 10‑K filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Arizona Footprint and California Ties
The builder has been expanding across the Phoenix metro for several years and operates multiple regional divisions in the Southwest. KB Home opened a neighborhood at Teravalis in Buckeye last November, per a company release on Business Wire, and the firm told reporters it will "continue to maintain a significant presence in California" with six operating divisions and more than 100 communities still open statewide, according to MyNewsLA.
What It Means Locally
KB Home did not specify how many Los Angeles staff would be asked to relocate or whether any local offices will close, and the company did not immediately release details on the size of its Tempe campus. Tempe has been a recent destination for corporate headquarters moves, including Align Technology, as the metro markets itself on lower costs and access to talent.
For now, KB Home says it will keep a "significant presence in California" even after the headquarters move, leaving many operational details unaddressed. We will be watching company filings and local reporting for updates on jobs, timing and any Los Angeles real estate changes tied to the transition.
