A Kansas City man is officially on a hot streak after snagging a $242,000 prize in the Missouri Lottery's Show Me Cash drawing on March 26, marking his second jackpot win after a 2024 score. He told lottery officials he was stunned when he checked the ticket and realized lightning had struck twice.
The Missouri Lottery said the ticket matched all five numbers — 17, 20, 25, 30 and 39 — to land the $242,000 payout. According to the Lottery's release, the same player previously hit a jackpot in 2024, putting him in rare company among repeat winners in the state's draw-game history.
Where the Ticket Was Sold
The lucky ticket came from QuikTrip 223, 4380 NW 90th St. in Kansas City, according to WKRC. The man told lottery officials he usually only plays Show Me Cash when the jackpot climbs above $200,000, and when he realized he had all the numbers, he laughed and said, "You've got to be kidding me!"
Show Me Cash Basics
Show Me Cash drawings take place nightly at about 8:59 p.m., with jackpots starting at $50,000 and growing until someone wins, according to the Missouri Lottery. The odds of matching all five numbers are roughly 1 in 575,757, Lottery Post reports. Winners are instructed to sign the back of winning tickets and must claim prizes within 180 days at a Lottery redemption center or eligible retailer.
The winner has not said what he plans to do with the money, WKRC noted. He has until the Missouri Lottery's 180-day claim deadline to pick up the prize.
