A quiet Lake in the Hills block turned into a death investigation Monday afternoon after firefighters found a man dead inside a heavily damaged home on the 1000 block of Brittany Bend. A relative had gone to check on the resident, and when crews arrived around 1 p.m., they discovered significant interior damage and the man’s body inside the house. The home was later deemed uninhabitable, according to ABC7 Chicago.
The Huntley Fire Protection District and the Lake in the Hills Police Department responded to the scene. Officials said the victim’s identity had not yet been released.
Crews Secured The Scene
Firefighters reported finding no active flames or additional hazards during their search, but the interior damage was severe enough that the structure could not be lived in. State Fire Marshal, Coroner Assisting
Investigators said preliminary findings “do not appear to be suspicious in nature,” and the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office and the McHenry County Coroner’s Office are both assisting with the case, Shaw Local reported. According to officials, “With no active fire or additional hazards identified, crews exited the residence and secured the scene.”
