S. Grand Boulevard turned into a fatal crash scene late Thursday night after a car hit a pedestrian, slammed into a garage and the driver bolted, leaving the victim trapped under the vehicle.
Police say the collision happened in the 4700 block of S. Grand Boulevard at about 11:21 p.m. Fire crews had to cut open the garage door and lift the car to reach the pedestrian, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department's Accident Reconstruction Unit was called in to handle the investigation.
In a post shared by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department on social media, Accident Reconstruction investigators said they were called to the 4700 block around 11:21 p.m. and that the driver of the vehicle fled the scene. That statement was later noted by First Alert 4. The department's post is embedded below.

Rescue And Investigation
Firefighters cut through the garage door and raised the vehicle to free the victim, and medics pronounced the person dead at the scene, according to First Alert 4. The Accident Reconstruction Unit stayed on S. Grand into the overnight hours while detectives gathered evidence and knocked on doors in the area.
Another Deadly Crash This Week
This latest death follows a separate fatal incident earlier in the week, when a trash-collection truck struck a person in the 4600 block of South Broadway. Police say official accident reports can take several business days to appear as investigators sort through evidence.
Authorities have not yet released the name of the S. Grand victim, and no arrests have been announced. The investigation is still active, and the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department is asking anyone with information to contact investigators.
