A 16-year-old boy was shot while walking in Chicago’s Woodlawn neighborhood early Saturday morning, according to police. Officers said the teen was hit in the leg in the 6400 block of South King Drive just after 4 a.m. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children’s Hospital, where he was listed in good condition.

Chicago police told CBS Chicago that the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear, and Area One detectives are investigating. Authorities did not immediately release information about a possible suspect or motive, the outlet reported.

Recent Woodlawn Shootings

The attack comes amid a string of recent shootings on the South Side. NBC Chicago reported that on March 5, a 15-year-old survived after being shot three times, and a Feb. 26 shooting near a BP station left several people wounded.

Police Asking For Tips

Area One detectives are asking anyone with information to contact them at 312-747-8380 or to submit an anonymous tip at CPDTIP.com, according to the Chicago Police Department. Investigators continue to canvass the neighborhood for witnesses and surveillance video as the case moves forward.
