A man was left fighting for his life after being shot in the head outside a Williamsbridge deli on Thursday night, police said.
Officers were called to 3724 Bronxwood Ave. around 9:20 p.m., where they found an unidentified man with a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to a nearby hospital and was listed in critical condition. Investigators said the probe was ongoing and no arrests had been made.
WABC's Eyewitness News, as reported by ABC7 New York, said officers discovered the victim outside the store and rushed him to a local hospital. The outlet reported that detectives stayed on scene late into Thursday night, trying to piece together what led up to the shooting.
History at the corner
Violence at this corner is not new. A year earlier, Hoodline reported that a 20-year-old man was fatally shot at the same address after an argument inside the deli. The April 18, 2025 piece, titled fatal deli shooting, described how that killing rattled the block. The previous homicide has left neighbors wary and highlighted ongoing safety concerns along this stretch of Bronxwood Avenue in Williamsbridge.

As of the ABC7 report, no arrests had been announced, and detectives were still processing the scene Thursday night. The NYPD's Crime Stoppers program, which is reachable at 1-800-577-TIPS, accepts anonymous tips, according to the NYPD website.
