How police say the shooting unfolded
According to Chicago police, the attack unfolded around 3:30 p.m. near West 50th Street and South Hermitage Avenue, when two people on a motorcycle pulled up alongside the car and opened fire. The vehicle then collided with a parked car in the 1700 block of West 50th Street. All three people inside were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center. The woman, later identified by family as Cruz, was shot in the back and pronounced dead. A 16-year-old was reported in critical condition and an 18-year-old in serious condition, as reported by FOX 32 Chicago.
