Cledis Burgers & Beer is rolling its smash burgers into Murfreesboro, taking over a longtime neighborhood watering hole just off the Middle Tennessee State University campus. The Nashville-born concept’s move into Rutherford County marks its fourth Tennessee location and signals a push past the city’s usual core neighborhoods.
According to WhatNow, the new outpost is headed for the former Boro Bar & Grill space at 1211 Greenland Drive. The outlet notes that Cledis already runs locations on Elm Hill Pike, in Bellevue and in the Gulch, and that it reached out to the company for an opening timeline but had not heard back by publication.
The Murfreesboro Pulse reports Boro Bar & Grill held down the building for more than 40 years before closing in 2025. The paper notes that Cledis is planning indoor and outdoor seating, a covered patio and a rotating tap list of local and regional beers, and that management is eyeing a May opening window with service expected to echo the brand’s beer-garden style.
NAI Nashville Stanton Group, which represented the seller, announced the deal and described 1211 Greenland Drive as a ±3,431-square-foot freestanding restaurant property with a covered patio adjacent to the MTSU campus. The brokerage framed Cledis as a “natural fit” for the site and highlighted the teams that handled the transaction.
What’s on the menu
Per Cledis, the menu leans hard into smash burgers, sandwiches, wings and a rotating lineup of local and regional beers and ciders. Signature builds include the Skippy Thai Yay, the Billy Berry Smash and the Oklahoma Smash, along with loaded fries, nachos and shareable plates that have helped the brand cultivate a loyal following.
Where it fits
Owner Shane Nasby first launched Cledis on Elm Hill Pike in 2022 before expanding to Bellevue and the Gulch as the concept caught on, according to WhatNow. Nasby is also partnering on Chinwag, a new Murfreesboro bistro from Hell’s Kitchen winner Alex Belew, a project covered in Hoodline’s report on fiery Chinwag home to Murfreesboro earlier this year.
Cledis has not announced a firm opening date. Murfreesboro Pulse reports that management expects a May debut, while the brand is steering fans to its Cledis site for updates. For MTSU-area diners and beer lovers, the arrival of a photo-friendly patio and a broad tap list looks set to add another option for burgers and late-night crowds.
