
A Thursday afternoon fire at a Mount Healthy apartment building sent a young boy to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and left an adult treated on scene, after firefighters knocked down the blaze on Harrison Avenue in about an hour.
Crews were called to the 7800 block of Harrison Avenue around 4 p.m. and had the fire extinguished by roughly 5 p.m., according to WLWT. Fire officials told the station the child, identified as a boy, was taken to the hospital, and his condition had not been released as of Thursday evening.

Fire officials said the boy was transported to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital for evaluation and treatment. The hospital’s Burnet campus is listed at 3333 Burnet Ave on the Cincinnati Children’s website.

Crews searched the building, treated one adult at the scene, and checked on other residents to make sure everyone was safe, according to WLWT. The 7800 block of Harrison Avenue has also been part of a city street improvement project this spring, with curb, storm sewer, and paving work outlined on the City of Mt. Healthy website.
Investigators have not yet released a cause for the fire, and officials did not provide an update on the child’s condition Thursday evening. This story will be updated as more information is released by local fire and city officials.
