
An early-morning walk in Brownsville ended with gunfire Saturday, leaving a man wounded and rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, where deputies say he is in stable condition.
What investigators say
According to WPLG Local 10, a Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said deputies responded around 6:20 a.m. to Northwest 24th Avenue and Northwest 62nd Street after reports of a person shot. When they arrived, deputies found a man with an apparent gunshot wound to his lower extremities. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue then transported him to Ryder Trauma Center for treatment.

This latest shooting adds to a recent run of gun incidents in northwest neighborhoods. Similar cases were reported in mid May and earlier in April, as documented in Hoodline’s ShotSpotter triggers police scramble coverage, which noted that other victims were also rushed to Ryder Trauma Center during those incidents.
Investigation and tips
Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office officials say the Northside General Investigations Unit is handling the probe, according to WPLG Local 10. Anyone with information is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
