Twenty suspected members of a Palm Beach County gang known as Nawf Way, often referred to as the Sharks, are behind bars after a sweeping multiagency raid that authorities say went straight at the core of a violent criminal crew based in Belle Glade. Investigators say the takedown targeted an organization accused of shootings, armed robberies and drug trafficking across western Palm Beach County, with the goal of taking the whole operation off the board, not just a few players.
Year-long probe culminated in coordinated sweep
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said Operation Shark Bait unfolded over months and drew in more than 200 law-enforcement personnel for coordinated actions carried out last Thursday. According to WFLX, investigators pulled together data from 2020 through 2025 to map the gang's activity and secured 13 residential search warrants that were executed as part of the sweep.
What investigators say they found
During the raids and arrests, officers reported finding trafficking quantities of fentanyl, cocaine, crack cocaine and marijuana, along with roughly $10,000 in cash. Investigators also said they seized firearms and other evidence they contend links the suspects to an organized narcotics operation, according to WPBF. Prosecutors argue those seizures support enterprise-level criminal charges rather than one-off street cases.
Group tied to dozens of violent incidents
Detectives with PBSO say Nawf Way grew out of a smaller neighborhood outfit once known as Fourway and has since expanded to more than 50 documented members and associates. Authorities have linked the group to 62 shootings, homicides or attempted homicides, along with 64 additional firearms-related investigations. Prior cases have already connected 103 firearms to the alleged enterprise, and this latest operation turned up seven more guns, WFLX reported. Sheriff Ric Bradshaw told reporters that "the community owns those streets and the message to the bad guys is it's not a matter of if we're going to get you; it's a matter of when."
Legal implications
The 20 individuals arrested are facing racketeering and conspiracy to commit racketeering charges, along with firearms and narcotics counts, and several of them are being held on bonds set at $2,000,000, according to WPBF. Prosecutors say the indictment-style case is structured to target the gang's hierarchy and financial network rather than focusing solely on individual alleged acts of street violence.
Investigators say the operation is part of a broader countywide push against violent crime and gang activity, and they cautioned that additional arrests or charges could follow as they continue to comb through evidence. Community leaders in Belle Glade had not yet issued public statements in response to the sweep, and the case is now set to work its way through the courts in the coming weeks.
