Midday gunfire brought traffic to a halt on a busy stretch of Northwest 27th Avenue on Wednesday, after a shooting in Miami-Dade County’s West Little River neighborhood left one person wounded and a major intersection taped off.
The shooting happened at the corner of Northwest 27th Avenue and 90th Street. Aerial footage from the scene showed blood on the sidewalk as deputies worked the area. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue rushed an adult victim to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, while deputies diverted cars around the crime scene and kept details about any suspects under wraps.

As reported by Local 10, deputies cordoned off the intersection of Northwest 27th Avenue and 90th Street while investigators combed the sidewalk and roadway for evidence. Video from Sky 10 captured blood on the sidewalk, with deputies stationed nearby as traffic was forced to reroute around the blocked lanes.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue told Local 10 that medics transported an adult victim to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center. The sheriff’s office had not released further information about the shooting or any possible suspects while that on-scene work continued.

Miami’s Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial is the county’s Level I trauma facility, where the most seriously injured patients are treated, according to Ryder Trauma Center. Being routed there indicates emergency crews handled the case as a high-priority transport, although officials did not disclose the victim’s condition.
The hospital’s website notes that Ryder Trauma Center manages thousands of trauma cases each year and serves as the region’s primary trauma referral hub.

West Little River is a dense, historically under-resourced section of northwest Miami-Dade, and NW 27th Avenue cuts straight through it as one of the community’s main commercial corridors. The area has seen other recent violence, including an April 29 shooting that left a woman hospitalized and a May 19 arrest tied to that case.
Wednesday’s closure briefly tangled afternoon drive-time traffic along NW 27th Avenue and rattled nearby residents who watched deputies process the scene.
Authorities had not released additional information about suspects or the victim’s condition as of Wednesday afternoon. Local 10 reported it had contacted the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office seeking comment.
