Shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday, a late-night stop for gas in Pembroke Park turned into a homicide investigation when a shooting at the Orion station on West Hallandale Beach Boulevard left one person dead. The busy intersection of Hallandale Beach Boulevard and Southwest 40th Avenue was shut down for hours as investigators locked down the area and turned the pumps and parking lot into an outdoor crime lab.
Dozens of evidence markers were spread around the gas pumps and adjacent parking spaces while detectives photographed and collected items. Multiple law enforcement units stayed on scene through the morning as the county's homicide team took over the probe and methodically worked the lot.
Overnight Scene At The Orion Station
According to Local 10, the shooting happened at the Orion gas station at 3990 W. Hallandale Beach Blvd., where detectives appeared to concentrate on a red Dodge vehicle parked at the scene. Officers from the Hallandale Beach Police Department, Pembroke Park police and the Broward Sheriff’s Office were all observed working the location as the investigation unfolded.
BSO homicide detectives have been identified as the lead agency on the case while evidence from the station is processed.
