A quiet Thursday morning in Elmwood turned into a major crime scene after Jefferson Parish deputies began investigating what they describe as an apparent murder-attempted suicide that unfolded between an apartment complex and a nearby parking lot. The call for help came in just after 10 a.m., sending deputies to the 5100 block of Citrus Boulevard.
Inside one of the apartments, deputies found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene, according to FOX 8. Investigators later tracked down the suspect's vehicle in the parking lot of a nearby business, where a man inside was found with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition, the station reported.
