A fourth suspect is now in custody in connection with the Jan. 25, 2025 killing of 26-year-old Jarrell Pryor, according to newly filed court documents. Pryor, a single father, was found with multiple gunshot wounds on Indianapolis' northeast side after what investigators say started as a lured date that turned into an attempted robbery.

As reported by FOX59, police and court records identify the fourth suspect as Steven Rodgers. He faces two counts of murder and two counts of robbery resulting in serious bodily injury. Court files show Rodgers is being held without bond and is scheduled for an initial hearing in Marion Superior Court 27 on May 12.

How investigators say it played out

Court documents allege Pryor was lured to a meeting spot under the pretense of a date and then ambushed. Alexis Hawkins, Brian Winston Jr. and Malachi Wells are named in those records as co-conspirators in the setup and attempted robbery that ended with Pryor killed.

WISH-TV reported that Wells told investigators he provided the firearm Rodgers allegedly used, and that Wells later picked Rodgers out in a photo array shown by detectives.

What’s next in court

According to FOX59, online court records show Wells, Hawkins and Winston are all set for jury trials starting July 21, 2026. Police records cited in those filings indicate Rodgers was detained on Nov. 11, 2025.

Prosecutors have filed charges that could mean decades behind bars if convictions are secured, and the courts are now set to sort through sharply different accounts of what happened on that January night.

Family reaction

Pryor's relatives say the latest arrest offers only limited comfort after more than a year of grief and waiting. "It really doesn’t matter if they spend the rest of their lives in jail," said Travis Wiley, reflecting on the loss. Tamekia Wiley added, "No justice will ever cure my broken heart."
