What began as a late-night gas station holdup in Franklin ended hours later with two teenagers under arrest after a tense hotel standoff, according to police.
Investigators say the pair robbed a clerk at gunpoint in the 1400 block of Murfreesboro Road on Thursday night, then ran to a nearby hotel and barricaded themselves inside a room. Crisis negotiators and a SWAT team stayed on scene through the night until both suspects surrendered at about 6 a.m. Friday.
WSMV reports the robbery happened around 10:30 p.m. Thursday. According to the station, Franklin Police identified one suspect as 18-year-old Quanshi Ragan of Franklin and said the second suspect is a 17-year-old male. Both were taken into custody early Friday morning.
Police statement and charges
The Franklin Police Department said in a Franklin Police social media post that "Ragan and the juvenile suspect are each facing multiple charges, including aggravated robbery." Police also noted the investigation is ongoing and that additional charges could be filed as detectives continue their work.
How the response unfolded
According to WSMV, officers tracked the suspects from the gas station to the hotel, where negotiators and the department's SWAT unit worked to secure a peaceful surrender.
