Goodwill Greater Milwaukee & Chicago is doubling up in Avondale, locking in a new lease at 3120 N. Pulaski Road and lining up roughly 50 jobs along with another spot for neighbors to drop donations and hunt for bargains. The planned store will sit alongside Goodwill’s existing Spaulding Avenue outpost, extending the nonprofit’s recent retail push across Chicago’s neighborhoods.
Lease, jobs and growing footprint
According to the Chicago Business Journal, Goodwill has signed a multiyear lease for the Pulaski address and expects to staff the store with about 50 employees. The outlet also reports that Goodwill Greater Milwaukee & Chicago currently runs roughly 47 locations across Illinois, making Avondale’s new site one more piece in an already sizable retail network.
What is at Pulaski right now
For now, 3120 N. Pulaski Road is still identified in commercial listings as a large retail parcel tied to a Planet Fitness club. A listing on Crexi and the Planet Fitness club page for the address point to a high-visibility location with dedicated parking, setting the stage for Goodwill to take over a prominent Avondale retail corner.
How it fits Goodwill’s Chicago play
Goodwill already planted a flag in the neighborhood with its Store & Donation Center at 3558 N. Spaulding Ave. As detailed by Goodwill Greater Milwaukee & Chicago, that first Avondale location created nearly 50 local jobs when it opened, on top of serving as a donation hub. The Pulaski lease would deepen Goodwill’s footprint in Avondale and offer another neighborhood drop-off and shopping option, with retail revenue feeding into the organization’s job training and placement programs across the region.
Neighborhood impact
If the 50-job estimate for Pulaski holds, the store would fall in line with other recent Goodwill openings that brought dozens of positions to different parts of Chicago. The Chicago Business Journal notes the new roles could span donation-center attendants, retail staff and supervisory positions, adding a small but real boost to Avondale’s local job market. The report does not yet pin down an official opening day or hiring schedule.
What to watch next
Goodwill has not listed an opening date for the Pulaski store on its public news feed, and hiring details typically surface closer to launch.
