A late-night stabbing on Harlem Avenue in Chicago's Norwood Park neighborhood left a 24-year-old man dead Monday, and police say a suspect is now in custody.
The attack happened around 11:15 p.m. in the 6000-block of North Harlem Avenue. The victim was stabbed multiple times and taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, where he later died, according to ABC7 Chicago.
Norwood Park, on the city’s Northwest Side, has seen other violent incidents in recent years, putting this case in grim company. For instance, a 2025 Norwood Park homicide also rattled the neighborhood.
What the police say
Chicago police told reporters the 24-year-old was involved in a verbal and physical altercation with a male suspect known to him. During that confrontation, the suspect pulled out a knife before the stabbing, police said. Charges are pending, authorities told ABC7 Chicago.
Investigation
Detectives are continuing to investigate and have not released the suspect’s name or a possible motive. Police are asking anyone with information about the killing to contact Chicago authorities.
