A 41-year-old man was shot and killed Friday night in Riverdale on Chicago’s Far South Side, the latest in a string of violence to hit the area.
Police said the man was in the 13000 block of South Ellis Avenue around 10 p.m. when someone walked up and opened fire, striking him in the chest. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities have not yet released his name.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the gunman ran off westbound after the shooting. Detectives have opened an investigation and no arrests have been announced.
