The crash was reported at about 10:24 p.m. Monday at mile marker 38.8 on I-24 West near the Old Hickory Boulevard exit. The collision involved an overturned vehicle and left westbound lanes closed for hours, according to WKRN News 2, which cited the Tennessee Department of Transportation. Emergency responders took several people from the scene to local hospitals.
I-24’s recent safety record
The Whites Creek stretch of I-24 has seen multiple serious crashes in recent months. The Metro Nashville Police Department issued a media release after a separate April wreck on the interstate that killed a 29-year-old driver, and local news coverage has documented additional shutdowns along the corridor that clogged traffic for hours. Investigation and traffic impacts
Investigators stayed on scene into Tuesday morning. Metro police told WKRN News 2 that the left lane had reopened while the right lane and shoulder remained closed as officers continued processing the scene.
