Tribal leaders and local officials in Kinder cut the ribbon Friday on Coushatta Casino Resort’s new Legacy Tower, marking the largest expansion in the property’s 30-year history. The eight-story addition brings 204 guest rooms, including about 100 luxury suites, and pushes the resort’s total room inventory to more than 1,000. The opening blended formal speeches with a tribal blessing, a painting reveal and guided walkthroughs of the new public spaces.

According to KSLA, roughly 200 people turned out for the ribbon cutting, which also featured a cake cutting, a live painting reveal by New Orleans artist Frenchy, tribal dancers and a blessing from an elder. KSLA reports that grand-opening festivities roll on Saturday with the $300,000 Legacy & Luxury Giveaway, where cars and cash prizes are up for grabs, and that hotel bookings for the new tower begin Monday, May 18.
