A 66-year-old Miami-Dade security guard is in custody after police say he tried to kill his wife twice in a single day. Investigators allege he first pressed a pillow over her face while she slept, then later pointed a handgun at her and told her, “Today, you are going to die.”
According to the arrest report, the woman escaped, ran into the backyard, and hid behind a shed while calling 911. Deputies arrived soon after and took the suspect into custody.
What the arrest report says
The suspect has been identified as Fael Francois, 66, a security guard. A deputy’s arrest report outlines a harrowing sequence at the couple’s Miami-Dade home. Investigators say Francois put a pillow over his wife’s head as she slept, an act that allegedly kicked off the series of attempted attacks.
Later, according to the report, the confrontation escalated. Francois allegedly pointed a handgun at his wife and told her, “Today, you are going to die.” Deputies wrote that he “pulled the trigger” but the magazine was not inserted, so no round was fired. His wife ran outside, took cover behind a shed, and called 911, and deputies detained Francois shortly afterward, according to Local10.
Arrest and custody
Once arrested, suspects in Miami-Dade typically move through a set intake system. According to Miami-Dade Corrections, Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center serves as the county’s primary intake and release facility and handles booking as well as pretrial release procedures.
The county’s public records directory lists the Northside District Station among the sheriff’s district locations that process arrests, per the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office. These facilities manage intake, property processing, and release decisions for people booked on county charges.
Charges and next steps
Court records and the arrest report show Francois is facing multiple counts across two new cases. The charges include attempted murder with a firearm, aggravated assault with a firearm, aggravated battery, battery, and resisting arrest without violence.
A judge has denied bond on the attempted murder charge, and court listings indicate the case will proceed through the county criminal system, according to Local10. Prosecutors and the sheriff’s office have not immediately provided further public comment on a possible motive or upcoming hearings.
