Midday gunfire rattled Memphis’ Orange Mound neighborhood on Thursday when a woman was found shot in the 1500 block of David Street, according to police. She was taken to a hospital in non‑critical condition, and Memphis police say the case is still under active investigation.
Officers were called to the scene at about 12:27 p.m. and found the wounded woman, then stayed on site while detectives worked the area for evidence, according to FOX13 Memphis. Investigators have not released any details about a possible suspect or motive.
Neighborhood Trend And Recent Incidents
The shooting adds to a tense month for Orange Mound, where violent incidents have been stacking up. Action News 5 reported that a May 5 shooting outside a club left eight people wounded. Just days later, overnight convenience store gunfire on May 8 also sent one person to the hospital.
Across these recent cases, local reporting notes a familiar pattern. Investigators keep turning back to the neighborhood, asking residents to share what they saw or any video that might help piece together what is happening on these streets.
