
An early-morning stabbing at a Point Loma shopping center left a man dead today, and San Diego homicide detectives are now trying to track down whoever is responsible.
Officers were called just after midnight to the Midway Towne Center on West Point Loma Boulevard, where they found a man suffering from apparent stab wounds. The unidentified victim was taken to UC San Diego Medical Center in Hillcrest and died after arrival, according to 10News.
Police told the outlet that the suspected attacker took off in a vehicle. Detectives did not immediately have descriptions of the suspect or the vehicle, and the San Diego Police Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation.
Midway and Point Loma See Repeat Violence
The Midway and Point Loma corridors have grappled with several violent incidents in recent years, including earlier stabbings that rattled nearby residents and business owners. The Times of San Diego documented a fatal Midway stabbing in 2023, and a January 2026 stabbing in the neighborhood also drew a homicide investigation, per Hoodline.
Police Ask Public To Step Up
The San Diego Police Department is asking anyone with information about Tuesday's killing to contact its Homicide Unit at 619-531-2293 or call San Diego Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477, according to the San Diego Police Department.
Officials have not released the victim's name or a possible motive and are urging witnesses to share any surveillance or cellphone video that could help investigators.
