What appeared to be a body was pulled from Lake Michigan off Oak Street Beach on Friday afternoon, as Chicago police and other first responders converged along the Gold Coast shoreline, helicopter footage showed. Members of the Chicago Police Department Marine Unit were seen working on the water while crews gathered on the sand. Authorities have not released any identifying information or a possible cause of death.
According to ABC7 Chicago, Chopper 7 was over the area at about 4:15 p.m. Video from the scene showed the CPD marine unit bringing in what “appeared to be a body” from the lake. The outlet reported it contacted authorities and that “no further information about the apparent body was immediately available.”

Oak Street Beach sits at 1000 N. Jean‑Baptiste Pointe DuSable Lake Shore Drive in the Gold Coast. The Chicago Park District lists the official beach season as running from the Friday before Memorial Day through Labor Day, with lifeguards scheduled to be on duty in designated swim areas from roughly 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
