A normally busy stretch near Southwest 59th Street and South May Avenue in southwest Oklahoma City turned into a taped-off crime scene Friday morning after officers found a woman shot in the neck and rushed her to a nearby hospital, where medical staff expect she will recover.
Police sealed off the area while Oklahoma City Police Department detectives launched an active investigation into the shooting.
According to News 9, officers were dispatched to a residence near the intersection and found the injured woman. Sgt. Rob Robertson told the outlet the victim had been shot in the neck. She was taken to a local hospital, where medical personnel told police she is expected to survive.
Police have not released any description of a suspect and have shared few additional details as the investigation continues.

Detectives stayed at the scene Friday, collecting evidence and speaking with anyone who might have seen or heard something. Authorities did not announce any arrests and said the probe is ongoing as they work to piece together what led up to the gunfire.
