Two men were wounded in separate overnight shootings across New Orleans early Friday, police said, in incidents that unfolded in different neighborhoods and ended with both victims in local hospitals. Detectives have opened parallel investigations and, for now, are keeping details close as they work to sort out what happened and who is responsible.
Mid-City shooting
The first shooting was reported in the 1500 block of Bienville Street, where officers found an adult man who was taken by emergency crews to a hospital for treatment. Police have not released information about his condition or any possible suspect, according to WWL-TV.
New Orleans East shooting
In a separate incident, an adult man showed up at a hospital with a gunshot wound. Investigators told reporters they believe that shooting happened near the intersection of Mayo Boulevard and the North I-10 service road, the New Orleans Police Department said. Officers have not shared any suspect descriptions or potential motive, and the case remains under active investigation.
How to help
Authorities are asking anyone with information about either shooting to contact NOPD detectives at 504-658-5300 or call Crimestoppers anonymously at 504-822-1111. Police urged witnesses or anyone with surveillance or cellphone video to step forward to help move the investigations along.
Why this matters
Overnight shootings like these continue to highlight concerns about gun violence in the city, even as officials and community groups track shifts in crime trends. The Metropolitan Crime Commission maintains data on shootings and homicides across Orleans Parish that city leaders and law enforcement use to shape prevention and response strategies.
