Pre-Dawn Bus Stop Stabbing Sends Man Fleeing To Downtown Bank

An early-morning stabbing at a downtown Cincinnati bus stop sent a wounded man running to a nearby bank for help as police flooded the area before sunrise Friday.

Officers responded to the corner of 5th and Main, near the Federal Bank, around 4 a.m. after reports of a stabbing. According to WLWT, police say the victim was attacked at a bus stop just up the street, then made his way to the bank’s exterior security for assistance.

WLWT crews at the scene saw an ambulance leaving as officers searched the area and began their investigation outside the bank early Friday. The station reported that police did not say how serious the man’s injuries were or whether any suspects were in custody.

By midday, investigators still had not released additional details about the victim, a possible motive or what exactly led up to the stabbing, WLWT noted.

Downtown context

The incident lands in the middle of a tense stretch for the city’s core. Earlier this month, a deadly shooting near Fountain Square left one person dead and led to an arrest, according to WCPO.
