San Jose started the day under partly cloudy skies and a cool 52°F at Mineta San José International, with the kind of soft morning light that makes the valley look like a postcard. The rest of today is set to be mostly sunny, topping out near 73°F, although neighborhoods closer to the bay will cool off into the upper 60s by midafternoon. Light showers could slip in late tonight and hang around into early tomorrow in a few spots, so if you have plans after dark, a jacket will not be overkill.
Tonight and Thursday
Rain chances pick up after about 8 PM, with overnight lows near 51°F and most areas looking at less than a tenth of an inch of moisture. Tomorrow is expected to be mostly cloudy, with a high near 72°F and a roughly 40% chance of light rain before midafternoon. The better odds for measurable totals are in the hills east of the Santa Clara Valley and over parts of the Central Coast, according to the National Weather Service.
Afternoon Winds and Commute
Winds across the valley should stay on the tame side today, generally around 2 to 8 mph. Exposed ridges and coastal spots will feel a bit more of a breeze later, with the strongest gusts saved for higher terrain. Most commutes should cruise along as usual, although Thursday morning drives could slow down in areas where the pavement is wet and drainage is not up to the task.
Weekend Outlook
A warmer, drier pattern moves in on Friday and sticks around into next week. Highs are projected to climb into the mid-70s on Saturday, then push into the 80s by Monday and Tuesday. Inland neighborhoods will see the biggest temperature bump, while the immediate coast stays on the cooler side. Out over the water, conditions stay rough with small craft advisories in place through Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
What To Do
For now, you are looking at small-umbrella territory tonight and a light jacket for tomorrow morning. After that, outdoor plans start to look a lot friendlier from Friday onward.
